Is business ethics an oxymoron? Isn’t business just about making money? In this course, we will investigate the purpose of a corporation and apply ethical theory to practice in order to explore the ethical dimensions of numerous issues that affect consumers, employees, communities, stockholders, and business professionals. Topics include the ethical treatment of employees, ethical practices in finance, accounting, sales, and marketing, ethical issues connected to new and emerging technologies, and the relationship of business to the environment. Major course assignments include two papers and two exams. Throughout the semester, students will work together in teams in order to develop their own version of an ideal, ethical corporation.
